About Me
Hello!
My name is Alfie and I have been climbing for four years now and started outdoor climbing two years ago. I am a graduate from Bristol University with a BSc in Mathematics and Philosophy and have a particular interest in Eastern philosophies such as Zen Buddhism and Daoism, along with some Continental philosophy such as existentialism, as well as a broad interest in psychology.
Climbing is an incredible sport which has changed me so much as a person - taught me so much about my self and my mind, has introduced me to some amazing people, and taken me to some beautiful places in nature.
My aim with The Philosophical Crux is to bring a new perspective to the art of rock climbing - one which combines the sport with presence and mindfulness, with introspection and reflection.
The goal is to bring together a positive community of climbers by creating a space to share one's deeper insights of what they have learnt along their personal rock climbing journey.
